ABS With Traction Control

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Lincoln Town Car. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ABS consists of the following components:

The ABS prevents wheel lockup by monitoring the wheel speed sensors and actuating the HCU modulating the brake pressure to prevent wheel lockup. By preventing the wheels from locking up, the driver is able to maintain steering control and stop in the shortest possible distance under most conditions. The traction control system utilizes the same components as the ABS to prevent wheel spin and help maintain vehicle control during acceleration.

The front wheel speed sensor rings are integral to the front hub and bearing assemblies. Refer to FRONT SUSPENSION article.

The rear wheel speed sensor rings are integral to the rear hub and bearing assemblies. Refer to REAR SUSPENSION article.
