Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Navigator L and 2007 Lincoln Navigator. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor is mounted on the accelerator pedal. The APP sensor detects the position of the accelerator pedal and inputs this information as a voltage to the PCM. The PCM broadcasts the APP on the CAN bus. The TCM reads APP off the CAN message. The PCM uses the APP sensor information to aid in determining shift scheduling and torque converter (TCC) control.
