Refer to appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM ARTICLE, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation

The universal transmitter receives voltage on circuit CLN09 (YE/GN) and is grounded through circuit GD133 (BK).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

PINPOINT TEST A: THE UNIVERSAL TRANSMITTER IS INOPERATIVE

  1. A1 CHECK THE UNIVERSAL TRANSMITTER
    • Check the illumination of the universal transmitter by pressing one of the buttons.
    • Does the red indicator on the universal transmitter illuminate?
    1. YES  : Go to  A2.
    2. NO  : Go to  A3.
  2. A2 PROGRAM A HAND-HELD TRANSMITTER INTO A UNIVERSAL TRANSMITTER
    1. YES  : The universal transmitter is OK. VERIFY the receiver operates correctly.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new LH sun visor assembly. REFER to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article, Headliner. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT CLN09 (YE/GN) FOR VOLTAGE
    • Disconnect: LH Vanity Mirror Lamp C907

    • Measure the voltage between the LH vanity mirror lamp C907-1, circuit CLN09 (YE/GN), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : Go to  A4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. A4 CHECK CIRCUIT GD133 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in OFF position.

    • Measure the resistance between the LH vanity mirror lamp C907-2, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new LH sun visor assembly. REFER to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article, Headliner. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
