Pinpoint Test F: An Individual Demand Lamp Is Inoperative

Refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation 

The lighting control module (LCM) provides power to the demand lamps through circuit 705 (LG/OG). The demand lamps are grounded through circuit 57 (BK). The demand lamps will remain powered for a predetermined amount of time. Once that timeout has been reached, the LCM removes voltage from circuit 705 (LG/OG).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

• Wiring, terminals or connectors
• Lamp assembly

PINPOINT TEST F: AN INDIVIDUAL DEMAND LAMP IS INOPERATIVE 

1. F1 VERIFY THE INTERIOR LAMP OPERATION 
   NOTE: The battery saver must be activated during this test.
   • Open the LH front door.
   • Verify all courtesy lamps illuminate.
   • Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? 
   1. YES  : Go to  F2.
   2. NO  : Go to Pinpoint Test A .
2. F2 CHECK CIRCUIT 705 (LG/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
   • Key in OFF position.
   • Disconnect: Inoperative Demand Lamp
   • Measure the voltage between the inoperative demand lamp connector, harness side and ground as follows:

     RH vanity mirror	C906-1	705 (LG/OG)
     Rear reading lamp	C932-1	705 (LG/OG)
     Red/White map light	C954-1	705 (LG/OG)

   • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts at the inoperative demand lamp? 
   1. YES  : Go to  F3.
   2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
3. F3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
   • Measure the resistance between the inoperative demand lamp connector, harness side and ground as follows:

   • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms at the inoperative demand lamp? 
   1. YES  : INSTALL a new lamp assembly. TEST the system for normal operation.
   2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
