Pinpoint Test B: DTC B1483 - Brake Pedal Input Circuit Failure

NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. B1 CHECK THE STOPLAMPS FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Check the stoplamps for correct operation by pressing and releasing the brake pedal and observing the stoplamps.
    • Do the stoplamps operate correctly? 
    1. YES  : Go to  B2.
    2. NO  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article for further diagnosis of the stoplamps.
  2. B2 CHECK THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Drive the vehicle and verify that the speed control is deactivated when the brake pedal is pressed.
    • Does the speed control deactivate when the brake pedal is pressed? 
    1. YES  : Go to  B3.
    2. NO  : REFER to SPEED CONTROL article for further diagnosis of the speed control system.
  3. B3 CHECK THE ABS MODULE BRAKE ON/OFF (BOO_ABS) PID 
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: DataLogger ABS Module
    • Monitor the BOO_ABS PID while pressing and releasing the brake pedal.
    • Does the PID display match the brake pedal position? 
    1. YES  : The concern is not present at this time. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. NO  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article to diagnose the HS-CAN bus.
