Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal

All vehicles 

    NOTE: PCM installation DOES NOT require new keys.
  1. Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation procedure. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION article.
  2. Vehicles equipped with a 4.6L (3V) engine 

  3. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
  4. All vehicles 

  5. Disconnect the RH front wheel speed sensor electrical connector. Remove the nut(s) and position the A/C tube bracket(s) and wiring harness aside.
  6. Disconnect the PCM connectors.
  7. Remove the bolts and the PCM.
