Removal and Installation

NOTE: Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module can be damaged if exposed to these charges.
    NOTE: This step is necessary only if a new ABS module is being installed on a vehicle equipped with a 4.6L engine.
  1. Connect the scan tool and upload the module configuration information from the ABS module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  3. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.
  4. Remove the 4 screws and the ABS module.
    • To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) in the sequence shown in illustration.

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  6. If a new ABS module was installed, carry out these steps in the following sequence.
    1. For vehicles equipped with a 4.6L engine, download the module configuration information from the scan tool. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
    2. Using the scan tool, carry out the IVD Initialization sequence.
