Steering Column Torsion Bar Test

- Put the steering wheel straight ahead and position the vehicle on a hoist.
- Raise the vehicle until the tires are several inches off the ground.
- Start the vehicle and slightly turn the wheel to the right and remove hands.
- If the steering wheel continues to turn on its own to the end stop, replace the steering column. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
