Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THAT THE SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATES WITH THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Connect the scan tool.
- Check that a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.
- Can a vehicle session be established?
- Yes:
GO to 2
on page 2.
- No:
REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A .
- CHECK THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) CONTINUOUS MEMORY Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
- Clear the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Repeat the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 retrieved again?
- Yes:
GO to 3
on page 2.
- No:
The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR CONTINUOUS MEMORY Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
- Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes:
REFER to DTC CHART: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

- No:
GO to 4
on page 2.
- CHECK THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- Check for recorded Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 recorded?
- Yes:
REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Q or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE R .
- No:
GO to 5
on page 2.
- CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 set in multiple modules?
- Yes:
INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
.
- No:
INSTALL a new Cruise-Control Module (C-CM). REFER to CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM) .
