Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to 2 on page 2.
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
- Does the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 3 on page 2.
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B .
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) MODULE AND Powertrain Control Module (PCM) SELF-TESTS
- Using a scan tool, perform the self-test on the following modules.
- Cruise-Control Module (C-CM)
- Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Are any low or high voltage Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes:
For the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM), REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Q or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE R .
For Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE P .
For Powertrain Control Module (PCM), REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B (Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0562), or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A (Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0563).
- No: GO to 4 on page 2.
- Using a scan tool, perform the self-test on the following modules.
- RECHECK THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- Using a scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Repeat the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0121:00 still present?
- Yes: GO to 5 on page 3.
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out. - CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0121:00 OR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0129 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a scan tool, clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform Self-Test.
- Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
- Do both the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) set Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0121:00 and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) set Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0129?
- Yes: INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .
- No: INSTALL a new Cruise-Control Module (C-CM). REFER to CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM) .
