Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.
      • Is an observable symptom present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
      • Does the Restraints Control Module (RCM) pass the network test? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE C .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) AND THE Restraints Control Module (RCM) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) and the Restraints Control Module (RCM) self-tests.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 recorded? 
      1. Yes:  For the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM), REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Q  or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE R .

        For the Restraints Control Module (RCM), REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Y .

      2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  4. RECHECK THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
      NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    1. Using a scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Repeat the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0123:00 still present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 3.
      2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  5. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0123:00 OR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0151:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Using a scan tool, clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Using a scan tool, perform self-test.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Wait 10 seconds.
    6. Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0123:00 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0151:00 set in other modules? 
      1. Yes:  INSTALL a new Restraints Control Module (RCM). REFER to RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .
      2. No:  INSTALL a new Cruise-Control Module (C-CM). REFER to CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM) .
