Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
      • Is an observable symptom present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
      • Does the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) pass the network test? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE G .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) SELF-TEST
    1. Check for recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 recorded? 
      1. Yes:  For the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM), REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Q  or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE R .
      2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  4. RECHECK THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
      NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    1. Using a scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Repeat the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0212:00 still present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  5. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0212:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0212:00 set in other modules? 
      1. Yes:  INSTALL a new Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). REFER to STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE (SCCM) .
      2. No:  INSTALL a new Cruise-Control Module (C-CM). REFER to CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM) .
