Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.
      • Is an observable symptom present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 2  on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
      • Does the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) pass the network test? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 3  on page 2.
      2. No:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE U .
  3. CHECK THE Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 recorded? 
      1. Yes:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE Q  or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE R .
      2. No:  GO to 4  on page 2.
  4. RECHECK THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
    1. Using a scan tool, clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Repeat the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0104 still present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 5  on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  5. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0104 OR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0104:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0104 or U0104:00 set in other modules? 
      1. Yes:  INSTALL a new Cruise-Control Module (C-CM). REFER to CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM) .
      2. No:  INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
