Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH Parameter Identification (PID) IN THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view Powertrain - Cruise Control Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Press each cruise control switch while monitoring the cruise control switch Parameter Identification (PID) (SCCS).CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REFERENCE CHART
Cruise Control Switch SCCS Parameter Identification (PID) Value - None pressed RES/CNCL RESUME/CANCEL ON/OFF On/Off SET (pressed up) SET+/- SET (pressed down) SET/- GAP (pressed up) GAP- GAP (pressed down) GAP+ - Does the Parameter Identification (PID) value agree with the switch position?
- Yes: GO to 2 on page 2.
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE C .
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
- Does the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) module pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 3 on page 2.
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE G .
- RECHECK THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
- Using a scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Repeat the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P193D still present?
- Yes: GO to 4 on page 2.
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR CORRECT Powertrain Control Module (PCM) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
