Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE RKE TRANSMITTER OPERATION
    1. Press the lock and unlock RKE transmitter buttons on an IA key.

    Do the doors lock and unlock? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE J : The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Is Inoperative.
  2. CHECK THE IA KEY LOCATION
    1. Place the IA key in several locations within the vehicle and attempt to start the vehicle

    Does the vehicle start with the IA key in certain areas only? 

  3. CHECK FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INTERFERENCE
    1. Check for the use of any charger or other wireless device that can cause interference with the IA key. If any device is found, remove the device and attempt to start the engine.

    Does the engine start? 

    • Yes: INFORM the customer of the cause of the concern and the normal operation of the vehicle.
    • No: GO to .
  4. CHECK THE IA KEY BATTERY
    1. Place the IA key in the backup slot and press the start/stop switch.

    Is NO KEY DETECTED displayed? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: INSTALL a new battery. DO NOT reprogram the IA key (damaged or dead batteries do not erase IA keys from memory).
  5. CHECK THE IA KEY PROGRAMMING
    1. Program the IA keys. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment 

    Do the IA keys successfully program?
