Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE REAR WIPER OFF SWITCH (R_WIPE_OFF_SW) PID
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view SCCM PID R_WIPE_OFF_SW.
    3. Make sure the wiper/washer switch is in the OFF position.

    Is the PID R_WIPE_OFF_SW status ON (indicating the wiper/washer switch is in the OFF position)? 

  2. CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER OPERATION WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR DISCONNECTED
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Verify the rear window wiper operation.

    Is the rear window wiper still operating? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: GO to  4.
  3. CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER COMMAND CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Rear Window Wiper Motor.
    3. Measure:
      Windshield Wiper Motor Ground
      G08040896
      G08040897
      C125 Chassis Ground
      Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit
      11 CRW02 (GY/BU)
      G08040898
      - -

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to  5.
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Inspect the windshield wiper motor connector.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (replace connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - replace terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - replace pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the windshield wiper motor connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    5. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor - Windshield .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  5. CHECK FOR CORRECT REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR OPERATION
    1. Inspect the rear window wiper motor connector.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (replace connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - replace terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - replace pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the rear window wiper motor connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Connect: Windshield Wiper Motor
    5. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new rear window wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor - Rear Window .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
