Body Control Module (BCM)

The BCM controls the operation of the power door locks, keyless entry keypad, and the RKE system. The BCM receives direct input from all the liftgate release switch, keyless entry keypad, and the door lock control switches. It receives messages from the TPM module over the MS-CAN  for the RKE feature. Depending upon the input received and if conditions allow, the BCM either locks/unlocks the doors or releases the liftgate.

When using a keyfob or an IKT to release the liftgate on vehicles without the police package option, the BCM uses a separate output to provide voltage directly to the liftgate latch. This allows the liftgate to be opened regardless of the ignition state.
