MODULE NETWORK INPUT MESSAGES - ABS MODULE

Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
Accelerator pedal position PCM  The ABS  module uses accelerator pedal position information for correct operation of the traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and hill start assist systems.
Battery voltage BCM  This message informs the ABS  module of the voltage in the 12-volt battery as measured by the battery sensor.
Brake on/off switch PCM  This message informs the ABS  module the driver has pressed the brake pedal. This message is also used by the ABS  module to check the brake pressure sensor located inside the HCU  as well as the brake pedal angle sensor and the brake booster travel sensor.
Car mode BCM  This message informs the ABS  module of the current car mode. The stability systems react differently depending on the current car mode; normal, factory, transport or crash.
Door ajar status BCM  This message informs the ABS  module of the current door ajar status. There is a separate message for each door. The ABS  module resets the parameters used for the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) function when a door is opened.
Driven wheel brake torque value PCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current amount of braking torque being applied to the driven wheels by the electric motor. The ABS  module uses this information to help determine whether to use regenerative brake mode or friction brake mode.
Driven wheel propulsion torque value PCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current amount of propelling torque being applied to the driven wheels by the electric motor. The ABS  module uses this information to help determine whether to use regenerative brake mode or friction brake mode.
Driven wheel brake torque request PCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current amount of braking torque required by the electric motor to stop the vehicle. The ABS  module uses this information to help determine whether to use regenerative brake mode or friction brake mode.
Driven wheel direction PCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current driven wheel direction; forward, backward, unknown or failed.
Driven wheel regenerative brake monitor PCM  This message lets the ABS  module know if the electric motor is in regenerative brake mode or not. The ABS  module uses this information to determine whether or not to use friction brake mode.
Driver request traction control mode BCM  This message informs the ABS  module the driver has disabled the traction control system.
Engine status PCM  This message informs the ABS  module of the current status of the engine system; off, on, hot or cold.
Hill start assist setting BCM  This message informs the ABS  module of the current, driver selected mode for the hill start assist system; off, auto or manual.
Ignition status BCM  This message informs the ABS  module of the current ignition status; off, accessory, run, start, unknown or invalid.
Power mode BCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current ignition status; key out, key recently out, key approved, post accessory, accessory, post ignition, ignition ON, engine running, engine running standby, engine running starting in progress and engine cranking.
Power pack status PCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current power pack status; awake, ready, pre-starting, starting in process, running_running, running_standby, running_starting in progress, running_remote started and after run.
Power pack torque status PCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current power pack torque status; power pack off - torque not available, power pack on - torque not available, power pack start in progress - torque not available or power pack on - torque available. The ABS  module uses this information to help determine whether to use regenerative brake mode or friction brake mode.
RCM  serial number RCM  The ABS  module stores the RCM  serial number and verifies the serial number when the vehicle is started or the ignition is set to RUN or ACC. Over time, the ABS  module learns the offset of the sensors inside the RCM  . When a new serial number is found and the IVD Initialization procedure is carried out using a scan tool, the ABS  module resets the offset number learned for Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
Selector lever (PRNDL) status PCM  This message informs the ABS  module when the transmission is in REVERSE, this is used for the hill start assist system and the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system. The hill start assist system works in forward and reverse gears. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system does not operate when the transmission is in REVERSE.
Steering angle counter SASM  The ABS  module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system operation. This message provides the ABS  with the current steering wheel angle count.
Steering angle status SASM  The ABS  module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system operation. This message provides the ABS  with the current steering angle sensor status; operational with no faults detected, SASM  not initialized with no faults detected and fault detected.
Steering wheel direction of travel SASM  The ABS  module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system operation. This message provides the ABS  with the current steering wheel direction of travel, clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Vehicle configuration data BCM  This message provides the ABS  module with the current optional and configured items such as, tire size, axle ratio, manual or automatic transaxle, keyless entry and VIN.
