Pinpoint Test B: U0140:00 - Heating, Ventilation, And Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control Module

B1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform network test.
Does the Body Control Module (BCM) pass the network test?
1. Yes : GO to B2
2. No : DIAGNOSE the no communication with the Body Control Module (BCM).
  REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
B2 CHECK THE HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CONTROL MODULE CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS)
- Using a scan tool, carry out the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module self-test.
- Retrieve and record all Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Repeat the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module self-test.
Is DTC U0140:00 retrieved again?
1. Yes : GO to B3
2. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
B3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CONTROL MODULE SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module self-test.
- Check for recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module self-test.
Is DTC U3006:16 or DTC U3006:17 recorded?
1. Yes : GO to PINPOINT TEST R
2. No : GO to B4
B4 RETRIEVE ANY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform Body Control Module (BCM) self-test.
- Check for recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Body Control Module (BCM) self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
1. Yes : For DTC U3003:16, REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
  For DTC U3003:17, REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
2. No : GO to B5
B5 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a scan tool, retrieve all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Is DTC U0140:00 set in any other modules?
1. Yes : INSTALL a new Body Control Module (BCM).
  REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
2. No : INSTALL a new Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module.
  REFER to: HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CONTROL MODULE .
