Pinpoint Test E: The Flash-To-Pass Feature Is Inoperative

NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- E1 CHECK THE HIGH BEAM OPERATION
- Key in ON position.
- Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMPS ON position.
- Place the multifunction switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
- Do the high beam headlamps operate correctly?
- YES : Go to E2.
- NO : Go to Pinpoint Test A .
- E2 CHECK CIRCUIT 910 (PK) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a
- Measure the voltage between the multifunction switch C202a-11, circuit 910 (PK), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : Go to E3.
- NO : VERIFY the CJB fuse 24 (15A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- E3 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
- Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the multifunction switch C202a-11, circuit 910 (PK), harness side and the multifunction switch C202a-10, circuit 12 (LG/BK), harness side.
- Are the high beams illuminated?
- YES : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : REMOVE the jumper wire. Go to E4 .
- E4 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the LCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
