SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • The cruise control is inoperative (without adaptive cruise control)
  • Wiring, terminals and connectors
  • PCM not configured for cruise control
  • Cruise control switch
  • Digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor
  • Vehicle speed signal
  • PCM
  • The cruise control is inoperative and the message center displays "CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE" (with adaptive cruise control)
  • Wiring, terminals and connectors
  • PCM not configured for adaptive cruise control
  • Cruise control switch
  • Digital TR sensor
  • Vehicle speed signal
  • PCM
  • Cruise-Control Module (C-CM)
  • ABS module
  • Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • The cruise control indicator lamp is never/always on
  • Wiring, terminals and connectors
  • PCM
  • IPC
  • The adaptive cruise control indicator lamp is never/always on
  • Wiring, terminals and connectors
  • PCM
  • IPC
  • The amber follow indicator is flashing and the adaptive cruise control does not activate (if equipped)
  • The C-CM has not completed the horizontal alignment
  • DRIVE the vehicle until the amber follow indicator stops flashing.
  • The adaptive cruise control does not function in rain or snow conditions (if equipped)
  • C-CM
  • Blockage or obstruction
  • C-CM fascia cover
  • C-CM fascia cover foam
  • Unexpected adaptive cruise control braking (if equipped with adaptive cruise control)
  • C-CM
  • C-CM fascia cover
  • C-CM fascia cover foam
  • The adaptive cruise control system may occasionally detect and respond to out-of-path vehicles, especially on curves, entry/exit ramps or when changing lanes. CHECK the C-CM, front fascia cover and foam for damage. RETEST the adaptive cruise control system.
  • Lack of adaptive cruise control braking (if equipped with adaptive cruise control)
  • C-CM
  • C-CM fascia cover
  • C-CM fascia cover foam
  • The adaptive cruise control system may not detect and respond to vehicles carrying out close cut-ins or on tight curves (especially for vehicles on the passenger side) due to limited C-CM field of view. CHECK the C-CM, front fascia cover and foam for damage. If no damage is observed, RETEST the adaptive cruise control system.
  • Noise during adaptive cruise control braking (if equipped with adaptive cruise control)
  • Low speeds
  • Brake concern
  • The driver may detect some noise at low speeds when adaptive cruise control braking occurs. If braking noise continues, REFER to BRAKE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION to continue diagnosis of the ABS system.
  • The stoplamps do not operate during an adaptive cruise control braking event
  • Adaptive cruise (stoplamps) relay
  • INSTALL a new adaptive cruise (stoplamps) relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The cruise control cannot set above 130 km/h (80 mph)
  • A MyKey™ restricted key is in use and MyKey™ max speed limiter is turned ON
  • VERIFY if a MyKey™ restricted key is in use. REFER to ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) . With an admin key, VERIFY if MyKey™ max speed limiter is on. REFER to the Owner's Literature. If necessary, VERIFY cruise control normal operation with an admin key.
