NOTE: The spare key programming switch is a programmable switch which provides the capability to enable/disable the normal customer spare key programming procedure detailed in the Owner's Literature. It must read ENABLE if more than 2 keys need to be programmed into the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module using the Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys - With Intelligent Access (IA+) in this information. This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for rental company fleets or other fleet purchasers who may not want the spare key programming procedure available to the vehicle driver.

NOTE: The spare key programming switch state can be viewed with the RFA module PID SPAREKEY.

NOTE: If the PID SPAREKEY reads ENABLE, up to 4 keys total can be programmed into the RFA module using Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys - With Intelligent Access (IA) in this information. If the PID SPAREKEY reads DISABLE, the Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys - With Intelligent Access (IA) procedure cannot function. This switch is set to ENABLE when the vehicle is built. This PID does not affect the Spare Key Programming - Using Diagnostic Equipment procedure.

From the scan tool, enter TOOLBOX. Select BODY - SECURITY - PATS Functions and follow the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) on-screen instructions to ENTER SECURITY ACCESS. For additional information, refer to ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .

NOTE: The default setting of the key programming switch on delivery of all new vehicles is ENABLE, when viewing the RFA module PID SPAREKEY.

From the scan tool menu select: "Customer Spare Key Programming Enable" (or "Customer Spare Key Programming Disable") and follow the IDS on-screen instructions.
- "Customer Spare Key Programming Enable" - the spare key programming procedure is accessible.
- "Customer Spare Key Programming Disable" - the spare key programming procedure is not accessible.
