Condition Possible Sources Action
  • No communication with the ABS module
  • Fuse
  • Circuitry
  • ABS module
  • ABS false activation, ABS too sensitive, ABS activates on normal stop
  • Front anti-lock brake sensor tone rings
  • INSPECT both front wheel speed sensor tone rings for damaged teeth. INSTALL new as necessary.
 
  • Chafed wire insulation or pinched wire
  • INSPECT the wiring harness from the front wheel speed sensor knuckle to the frame and from the rear axle to the frame. REPAIR or INSTALL new as necessary.
 
  • Rear wheel speed sensor, excessive variance in air gap between wheel speed sensor and sensor tone ring
  • INSPECT both rear wheel speed sensor tone rings for damaged teeth. INSTALL new as necessary.
 
  • Open or shorted wheel speed sensor circuit
 
  • Rear wheel speed sensor tone rings
  • INSPECT the rear wheel speed sensor tone rings. INSTALL new as necessary.
 
  • Wheel speed sensor
  • The yellow ABS warning indicator and the red brake warning indicator are illuminated
  • One or more DTCs are present in the ABS module
  • The yellow ABS warning indicator does not self-check
  • Instrument cluster
  • Brake fluid level
  • Circuitry
  • ABS module
  • The stability/traction control switch indicator is inoperative
