Terrain Management System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The terrain management system optimizes driveability and comfort as well as maximizing traction while operating on different types of terrain. The terrain management system automatically tailors your vehicle configuration for each mode selected. This is accomplished by changing the functionality of the several systems to enhance the traction and handling capabilities of the vehicle. It is recommended that terrain management modes that enable the ELD not be used on dry, hard surfaced roads. Doing so produces excessive noise, vibration and increase tire wear. Terrain Management modes are selected by using the buttons mounted on the steering wheel and selecting and changing Terrain Management modes through the message center.
