WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Ford Pickup, 2012 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2012 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2012 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
USE CARE WHEN WORKING ON OR AROUND ENERGIZED FUEL INJECTOR WIRING. THE FUEL INJECTOR DRIVERS IN THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) SUPPLY HIGH VOLTAGE TO OPERATE THE FUEL INJECTORS. IF ENERGIZED, CONTACT WITH EXPOSED FUEL INJECTOR WIRING CAN RESULT IN ELECTRIC SHOCK. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.
NOTE:
Regeneration may occur during normal operation. During regeneration, diagnostic procedures may display biased values. If a regeneration occurs during diagnostic procedures, allow the process to complete before continuing diagnostics.
NOTE:
Clearing the powertrain control module (PCM) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) erases any PCM recorded freeze frame data. Make sure to record any PCM freeze frame information before proceeding.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the misfire detection monitor.
