Seat Backrest Second Row, 60 Percent: Removal

WARNING: Use care when the seat back frame is removed and when releasing the recliners from a backrest upright position. The recliners are spring-loaded, which may cause the recliner upper arms to fold with significant speed/force. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: When installing the backrest, the retaining bolts must be tightened in the sequence described in this procedure.
NOTE: Seat without inflatable safety belts shown. Limo, livery and seat with inflatable safety belts similar.

  1. 1.

    Remove the 60 percent seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat - Second Row .

  1. 2.

    From under the seat, detach the 2 sets of cushion cover J-clips, 1 side retainer and separate the cushion cover from the lower anchor and tethers for children wires.

    NOTE: Typical cushion cover retainer shown, others similar.

    Detach the cushion cover retainers and pull them out from between the riser and cushion frame.

    Detach the cushion cover J-clip from the cushion frame.

  1. 5.

    Lift the cushion foam pad and disconnect the cushion heater mat electrical connector.

  1. 6.

    Remove the cushion foam pad and cover assembly.

  1. 7.

    Detach the 2 backrest cover retainers at the bottom and 1 at the inboard side.

  1. 8.

    Remove the 2 pin-type retainers, detach 2 retainers attached to the hardback panel and separate the hook-and-loop strips.

  1. 9.

    Remove the armrest. Refer to Seat Armrest .

  1. 10.

    Detach the backrest cover J-clips and remove the pin-type retainer in the armrest pocket.

  1. 11.

    Lift the backrest foam pad away from the backrest frame, cut the tie strap, disconnect the backrest heater mat electrical connector and detach the retainer.

  1. 12.

    Remove the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt. Position the safety belt anchor out from behind the recliner.

  1. 13.

    Roll the backrest cover up and remove the 2 outboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.

  1. 14.

    Pull to detach and remove the outboard pivot cover.

  1. 15.

    Remove the 3 inboard pivot cover screws and the inboard pivot cover.

  1. 16.

    Remove the pivot bolt.

  1. 17.

    Lift the backrest foam pad and cover. Remove the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest frame bolts.

  1. 18.

    Remove the backrest.
