DTC U0428: Invalid Data Received from the Steering Angle Sensor Module: Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The PSCM monitors the HS-CAN bus when the ignition has been on for more than 5 seconds, when the voltage to the PSCM is greater than 9 volts and when there are no DTCs present that are inhibiting PSCM operation. The SASM broadcasts steering angle data including the absolute steering angle in a message over the HS-CAN.
- DTC U0428:00 (Invalid Data Received from Steering Angle Sensor Module: No Sub Type information) - This DTC sets if the PSCM detects an invalid signal from the SASM.
- DTC U0428:62 (Invalid Data Received from Steering Angle Sensor Module: Signal Compare Failure) - This DTC sets if the absolute steering angle broadcast from the SASM does not match the internal comparison value.
