Symptom Chart: Interior Lighting

SYMPTOM CHART INTERIOR LIGHTING

Condition Possible Sources Actions
  • A module does not respond to the scan tool
  • Fuse
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Module
  • The courtesy lamps flash on and off
  • The BCM  is not configured correctly.
  • CHECK the vehicle service history for recent service actions related to this module. This symptom is present due to incomplete or improper PMI  procedures. REPEAT/PERFORM the PMI  procedure as directed by the scan tool (Refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION SYSTEM for further information).
  • The courtesy lamps do not illuminate with a door open
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Door latch
  • BCM 
NOTE: Make sure that the dark car feature is not enabled in the BCM  . The dark car feature disables activation of courtesy lamps due to a door unlock, door ajar or removing the key from the ignition cylinder. The feature can be disabled using a scan tool.
  • The courtesy lamps do not illuminate with the liftgate open
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Liftgate latch (manual liftgate)
  • LTM  (power liftgate)
  • BCM 
NOTE: Make sure that the dark car feature is not enabled in the BCM  . The dark car feature disables activation of courtesy lamps due to a door unlock, door ajar or removing the key from the ignition cylinder. The feature can be disabled using a scan tool.
  • The courtesy lamps do not illuminate from the courtesy lamp switch
  • FLM 
  • One or more interior courtesy lamps are inoperative

  • One or both puddle lamps are inoperative
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Puddle lamp
  • Exterior mirror

  • All the courtesy lamps stay on continuously

  • Door latch
  • Liftgate latch (manual liftgate)
  • LTM  (power liftgate)
  • BCM 
  • The interior courtesy lamps stay on continuously
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • BCM 
  • The puddle lamps stay on continuously
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • BCM 
  • One or more demand lamps are inoperative
  • Fuse
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Interior lamp
  • BCM 
  • The battery saver does not deactivate after timeout
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • BCM 
  • An individual ambient lighting LED  is inoperative/does not cycle through all color combinations
  • Ambient lighting harness
NOTE: The LEDs  are not serviceable separate from the harness.
  • REPAIR or INSTALL a new ambient lighting harness in question.
  • The ambient lighting is inoperative
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • HVAC  module
  • The ambient lighting does not cycle through all color combinations
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • HVAC  module
