Module Network Input Messages - ABS Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
Brake pedal applied PCM Used to inform the ABS module the driver has pressed the brake pedal. This message is used by the ABS module to check the brake pressure sensor located inside the HCU and for hill start assist operation.
Brake on/off switch PCM Used to inform the ABS module the driver has pressed the brake pedal. This message is used by the ABS module to check the brake pressure sensor located inside the HCU and for hill start assist operation.
Cruise control status PCM This message informs the ABS module of the current status of the cruise control system; off, denied, standby or active.
Door ajar status BCM The ABS module resets the parameters used for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) when a door is opened.
Engine RPM PCM Used to inform the ABS module of the current engine Revolutions Per Minute (RPM). The ABS module uses this information for traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Roll Stability Control (RSC) and hill start assist operations.
Hood ajar status BCM The ABS module resets the parameters used for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) when the hood is opened.
Ignition key type BCM Used to inform the ABS module of the current MyKey ® type; admin or restricted. If the traction control is configured to always on through the use of an admin key, a restricted key user cannot  disable the traction control system.
Liftgate ajar status BCM The ABS module resets the parameters used for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) when the liftgate is opened.
Odometer master value BCM This message provides the ABS module with the current odometer value.
Parking brake actual BCM This message provides the ABS module with the current parking brake status; applied or not applied. This information is used for hill start assist operation.
Power mode BCM This message informs the ABS module of the current ignition mode; OFF, ACC, ON or START.
Power pack status PCM This message provides the ABS module with the current engine status; awake, ready, pre-starting, starting in process, running_running, running_standby, running_starting in progress, running_remote started and after run.
RCM serial number RCM The ABS module stores the RCM serial number and verifies the serial number when the vehicle is started or the ignition is set to run or accessory. Over time, the ABS module learns the offset of the stability sensors inside the RCM. When a new RCM serial number is found and the Interactive Vehicle Dynamics (IVD) Initialization procedure is carried out using a diagnostic scan tool, the ABS module resets the offset number learned for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC).
Selector lever (PRNDL) status TCM (internal to the PCM) The TCM is an internal part of the PCM. This message informs the ABS module when the transmission is in REVERSE, this is used for hill start assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC). Hill start assist operates in forward and reverse gears. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) do not operate when the transmission is in REVERSE.
Stability control mode request BCM This message informs the ABS module the driver has disabled the traction control system.
Steering angle counter SASM The ABS module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) operation. This message provides the ABS module with the current steering wheel angle count.
Steering angle status SASM The ABS module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) operation. This message indicates the steering wheel rotation angle (in degrees of rotation from center) and steering wheel rotation speed (in degrees per second).
Steering wheel direction of rotation SASM The ABS module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) operation. This message indicates which direction the steering wheel is turned from the center position.
Torsion bar torque PSCM The torsion bar is an internal component of the EPAS gear. The ABS module uses steering angle sensor information for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) operation. This message provides the ABS module with the current amount of force being used to turn the steering wheel (in Newton meters) and which direction it is being turned (clockwise or counterclockwise).
Trailer lamp connection status BCM This message informs the ABS module that a trailer is connected to the vehicle. The ABS module uses this information for trailer sway control operation.
Transmission gear position TCM (internal to the PCM) The TCM is an internal part of the PCM. This message informs the ABS module of which gear the transmission is currently using, this is used for hill start assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) operation. Hill start assist operates in forward and reverse gears. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) do not operate when the transmission is in REVERSE.
Transmission gear lever position TCM (internal to the PCM) The TCM is an internal part of the PCM.
Transmission in REVERSE TCM (internal to the PCM) The TCM is an internal part of the PCM.
Transmission torque data TCM (internal to the PCM) The TCM is an internal part of the PCM. This message informs the ABS module of the current transmission output in Newton meters. This information is used for traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) operation.
Transport mode BCM The stability control system reacts differently depending on the current car mode; normal, factory, transport or crash. This message informs the ABS module of the current car mode.
Vehicle configuration data BCM This message provides the ABS module with the current optional and configured items such as tire size, axle ratio, manual or automatic transaxle, keyless entry and VIN.
