ISSUE

Some 2013 Escape and C-Max vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch less Sony brand may have intermittent inoperable FCIM buttons.

ACTION

Follow the Service Procedure Steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Does the vehicle have a Sony branded FCIM?
1. Yes - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual section 415-00 and perform normal diagnostics.
2. No - proceed to Step 2.
Did the customer state the concern was intermittent, the steering wheel controls and touch screen continue to operate the radio, and/or the FCIM functionality recovers with a key cycle?
1. Yes - proceed to Step 3.
2. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual section 415-00 and perform normal diagnostics.
Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0256:00 present?
1. Yes - proceed to Step 4.
2. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual section 415-00 and perform normal diagnostics.
Reprogram the FCIM using IDS version 86.02 or higher to correct the condition.
