Ambient Lighting

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ambient lighting system consists of the BCM-B, and the harness with hardwired LEDs located within the front and rear footwells, door map pockets, door scuff plates, console storage bin and the floor console cup holders. The cup holder lid is equipped with an ajar switch that switches on or off the cup holder ambient lighting LEDs depending on the lid position.

The ambient lighting is split up into 3 separate zones. Zone 1 consists of the door map pockets. Zone 2 consists of the front and rear footwells, storage bin and the cup holders. Zone 3 consists of the door scuff plates.

The ambient lighting is powered on when any door is opened. When any door is closed, the power is turned off and is not supplied again until the parking lamps are turned on, or the key is put in the run position.

The message center switch is used to cycle the LEDs through 132 different color combinations (7 preset colors or 125 colors created through the MyColor™ feature) or to turn the ambient lighting off. The BCM-B provides the necessary voltage to all the LEDs to illuminate the 3 different zones.
