Pinpoint Test W: Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B) DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:87
- W1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to W2
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- W2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the IPC pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to W4
- No:
DIAGNOSE the failure to communicate with the IPC.
REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
- W3 CHECK FOR RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?
- Yes: REFER to: INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER AND WARNING CHIMES .
- No: GO to W4
- W4 RECHECK THE IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE - B (IPM-B) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a scan tool, clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Operate the system and test the system for normal operation.
- Using a scan tool, repeat Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B) self-test.
Is DTC U0155:87 still present?
- Yes: GO to W5
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- W5 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a scan tool, retrieve continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
Is DTC U3006:16 or U3006:17 set in the Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B)?
- Yes:
For DTC U3006:16, GO to Pinpoint Test X
For DTC U3006:17, GO to Pinpoint Test Y
- No: GO to W6
- W6 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U0155 IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a scan tool, clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a scan tool, retrieve the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
Is DTC U0155:00 or U0155:87 present in any other module?
- Yes:
INSTALL a new BCM.
REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
- No: GO to W7
- W7 CHECK FOR CORRECT IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE - B (IPM-B) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B) connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes:
CHECK OASIS
for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B).

For the 5-door, REFER to: Image Processing Module B (IPMB) - 5-Door .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
