RKE (with push button start)

The passive key incorporates both the PATS  and the RKE  transmitter functions in a single device.

The RKE  transmitters can be used to:

The RKE  transmitters have a normal operating range of 20 m (65.62 ft).

The passive key supplies a signal to the Radio Frequency (RF) receiver when any RKE  button is pressed. The Radio Frequency (RF) receiver interprets the information from the passive key and sends a signal to the RFA  module. If the RFA  module determines that it is a programmed key, it sends a message over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) to the BCM  .

The RKE  transmitters and the RFA  module also utilize a rolling code to prevent the code from being captured by a code grabber. The system advances the counter in the RKE  transmitter and the RFA  module every time a RKE  transmitter button is pressed.

The RKE  feature switches off after 27 days of inactivity to conserve battery power. The RKE  feature enables when the ignition is switched to RUN.
