Pinpoint Test Q: U3003:62 - Abs (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module

  1. Q1 CHECK FOR ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE BATTERY VOLTAGE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the ABS  module self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17 present?

    1. Yes  : For DTC  U3003:16 GO to PINPOINT TEST A

For DTC  U3003:17 GO to PINPOINT TEST F

    2. No  : GO to Q2
  2. Q2 CHECK FOR ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
    • Review the results of the previous ABS  module self-test.

Is DTC U0140:00 present in the ABS module?

    1. Yes  : GO to PINPOINT TEST D
    2. No  : GO to Q3
  3. Q3 CHECK FOR BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) BATTERY VOLTAGE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the BCM  self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17 present in the BCM

    1. Yes  : DIAGNOSE the BCM  Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .

    2. No  : GO to Q4
  4. Q4 CHECK THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE VOLTAGE SUPPLY (VPWR_ABS) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION) AND THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) BATTERY VOLTAGE (V_BATT) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)
    • Measure and record the voltage at the battery.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, observe the ABS  module VPWR_ABS and the BCM  V_BATT Parameter Identifications (PIDs).

Do both Parameter Identifications (PIDs) display within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage?

    1. Yes  : The condition that caused the DTC  to set is not present at this time. The DTC  may have been set due to excessive resistance at the battery terminals or in the HS-CAN  .

INSPECT the battery terminals for dirt, corrosion and other foreign material that could cause excessive resistance. VERIFY the integrity of the module connectors and wiring. REPAIR as necessary.

    2. No  : If the ABS  module VPWR_ABS PID  does not display within 0.2 volt of battery voltage, GO to PINPOINT TEST A

If the BCM  V_BATT PID  does not display within 0.2 volt of battery voltage, DIAGNOSE the BCM  .

REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
