PINPOINT TEST D: SelectShift™

  1. D1 RETRIEVE AND RECORD ALL DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    • Using the diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTCs.
    • Are DTCs P0815 and/or P0816 present? 
    • Yes  : CLEAR the DTC. Using the diagnostic scan tool, perform the KOER self-test. If DTC P0815 returns, GO to D2.

      If DTC P0816 returns, GO to  D7.

    • No  : No trouble found with the TCS system. REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES if the Tow/Haul lamp does not illuminate.
  2. D2 CHECK THE UPSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Tow/Haul C2399.
    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-3   GROUND
      VOLTAGE
    • Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  D4.
    • No  : GO to D3.
  3. D3 CHECK THE UPSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175T.
    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
    • For gasoline engine vehicles measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-3   C175T-23
      OHM
    • Disconnect: Transmission Control Module (TCM) C1750.
    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
    • For diesel engine vehicles measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-3   C1750-58
      OHM
    • Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to D4.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  4. D4 CHECK THE UPSHIFT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-3   GROUND
      OHM
    • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to D5.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  5. D5 CHECK THE SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Connect: PCM C175T.
    • Connect: TCM C1750.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-3   C2399-4
      VOLTAGE
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
  6. D6 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ SWITCH 
    • Measure component side.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      Pin   3 Pin 4
      OHM
    • Is the resistance less than 1.5 ohms with upshift selected and greater than 10, 000 ohms when released? 
    • Yes  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no TSB address this concern, INSTALL a new PCM/TCM. PERFORM the solenoid strategy download procedure, REFER to solenoid body strategy in AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - TORQSHIFT 6 .
    • No  : INSTALL a new selector lever, REFER to SELECTOR LEVER .
  7. D7 CHECK THE DOWNSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Tow/Haul C2399.
    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires. Repair as necessary.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-5   GROUND
      VOLTAGE
    • Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  D10.
    • No  : GO to D8.
  8. D8 CHECK THE DOWNSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175T.
    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
    • For gasoline engine vehicles measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-5   C175T-24
      OHM
    • Disconnect: Transmission Control Module (TCM) C1750.
    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
    • For diesel engine vehicles measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-5   C1750-59
      OHM
    • Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to D9.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CET42 (GN/VT) for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  9. D9 CHECK THE UPSHIFT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-5   GROUND
      OHM
    • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to D10.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  10. D10 CHECK THE SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Connect: PCM C175T.
    • Connect: TCM C1750.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      C2399-5   C2399-4
      VOLTAGE
    • Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 
  11. D11 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ SWITCH 
    • Measure component side.
      Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead
      Pin 3   Pin 4
      OHM
    • Is the resistance less than 1.5 ohms with upshift selected and greater than 10, 000 ohms when released? 
    • Yes  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no TSB address this concern, INSTALL a new PCM/TCM. PERFORM the solenoid strategy download procedure, REFER to solenoid body strategy in AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - TORQSHIFT 6 .
    • No  : INSTALL a new selector lever, REFER to SELECTOR LEVER .
