Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal

  1. 1.

    With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

  1. 2.

    NOTE: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) installation DOES NOT require new keys or programming of keys, only a Parameter Reset of the PATS.
    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Download the module information to the diagnostic tool using the Programmable Modules Installation routine. Refer to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description . Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment

  1. 3.

    Remove the LHF fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .

  1. 4.

    Remove the retainers and the PCM cover.

  1. 5.

    Remove the retainers, detach the wiring retainer and position out the PCM.

  1. 6.

    Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors and remove the PCM.
