Pinpoint Test C : U0140:00 - HVAC (Heating, Ventilation And Air Conditioning) Control Module

- C1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the BCM pass the network test?
Yes GO to C2 No DIAGNOSE the no communication with the BCM. REFER to: Communications Network . - C2 CHECK THE HVAC (HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING) CONTROL MODULE CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the HVAC control module self-test.
- Retrieve and record all HVAC control module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Repeat the HVAC control module self-test.
- Retrieve and record all HVAC control module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Is DTC U0140:00 retrieved again?
Yes If DTC U3006:16 or U3006:17 is also retrieved, GO to Pinpoint Test R
If DTC U3006:16 or U3006:17 is not retrieved, GO to C3.No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - C3 RETRIEVE ANY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
- Check for retrieved Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the BCM self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17 retrieved?
Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No GO to C4 - C4 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Is DTC U0140:00 set in any other modules?
Yes INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No INSTALL a new HVAC control module. REFER to: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control Module .
