DTC U0001:88 indicates a failure of the HS-CAN which can be due to a circuit failure in the HS-CAN or the PSCM wiring harness.

When this DTC is set, steering assist is reduced but not removed.

When this DTC is set, the message center displays STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED.

Depending on the vehicle operating condition when this DTC is set, the EPAS system may fail to power up, operating only in manual steering mode or operates in reduced assist mode.

If this DTC sets while the vehicle is moving, steering assist is provided until the vehicle speed is less than 3 km/h (2 mph).

The presence of DTC U0001:88 prevents the active park assist system (if equipped) from activating. If set during an active park assist event, the event is terminated and the active park assist system is deactivated.
