Rear Climate Control
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Ford Transit-350 HD, 2016 Ford Transit-350, 2016 Ford Transit-250, and 2016 Ford Transit-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The rear climate control system is controlled by the RHVAC control module mounted under the overhead console. The rotary switches, (fan speed control) and (temperature and air distribution control) are integral to the RHVAC control module and cannot be serviced separately. The front A/C system must be operating for the rear climate control system to cool and reduce the relative humidity of the air inside the vehicle.
The rear climate control system consists of two independent subsystems: the rear heat subsystem and the rear A/C subsystem.
- The rear heat subsystem is a one-piece unit located under the passenger front seat. The rear heat subsystem has a rear heater core housing, a heater core, a temperature door actuator, a blower motor and blower motor speed control.
- The rear heat subsystem air flow: for the wagon the air is routed through the floor ducts; for the cargo van the air is vented directly into the cargo space.
- The rear A/C subsystem is a one-piece unit mounted to the LH D-pillar. The rear A/C subsystem has a rear evaporator housing, an evaporator, a Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV), a blower motor and blower motor speed control.
- The rear A/C subsystem air flow: for the wagon the air is routed through the headliner vents; for the cargo van the air is vented directly into the cargo space.
