- Review the results from the self-test.
Are network communication Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?
Yes DIAGNOSE the network concern. REFER to: Communications Network No GO to V4 - V4 VERIFY THE REMOTE START FEATURE IS ENABLED
- Using the steering wheel control switch, check remote start feature setting in the message center.
Is the remote start feature enabled?
Yes GO to V5 No ENABLE the remote start feature. - V5 CHECK FOR POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the PCM KOEO and KOER self-tests.
Are any PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?
Yes REFER to PCM DTC Chart No GO to V6 - V6 CHECK FOR BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) P1594:04
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the BCM self-test.
Is DTC P1594:04 present?
Yes GO to V8 No GO to V7 - V7 CHECK FOR OTHER BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Review the results from the BCM self-test.
Are any other BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) besides P1594:04 present?
Yes DIAGNOSE all other BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first. REFER to BCM DTC Chart No DIAGNOSE a powertrain concern (the engine starts and then stalls). Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) - V8 CHECK THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SNAPSHOT DATA
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the snapshot data for BCM DTC P1594:04.
BCM DTC P1594:04 Trigger Event
NOTE: This table is not all inclusive of the items displayed from the trigger event. All items should report as false for the remote start system to operate.Scan Tool Display Event detected that caused the engine to shutdown ALARM_MODE_ACT The perimeter alarm activated when the BCM detected an unauthorized entry. CRASH_FLAG The BCM received information from the RCM indicating a crash event occurred. This can be reset using a diagnostic scan tool. DTC U0100:00 set - Lost com w/ PCM The BCM lost communication with the PCM. DTC U0101:00 set - Lost com w/ TCM The BCM lost communication with the TCM. DTC U0155:00 set - Lost com w/ IPC The BCM lost communication with the IPC. DTC U0293:00 set - Lost com w/ PCM/SOBDMC The BCM lost communication with the SOBDMC. DTC U0515:00 set - Invalid data from RFA The BCM lost communication with the RFA module. DTC U3003:16 set - Battery Voltage Low The BCM detected low battery voltage. DTC U3003:17 set - Battery Voltage High The BCM detected high battery voltage. DTC U0101:00 set - Lost com w/ BEV TCM The BCM lost communication with the TCM. EngAout_N_Actl reach Rstart max speed The BCM received information from the ABS module that indicated the vehicle was moving. Engine Speed QF not ok The BCM received information from the ABS module that indicated a concern with the integrity of the wheel speed sensor inputs. HOOD_OPEN The BCM detected the hood was open. PATS System error The RFA module communicated to the BCM that a valid programmed key was not detected when an attempt to drive the vehicle during remote start operation occurred. PATS malfunction - PCM/BCM Com error The BCM and PCM failed the challenge request during the PATS operation. Lost communication to the PCM can also cause this. Rem Start disabled - BCM/IPC com error The IPC reported the remote start feature disabled or the BCM lost communication with the IPC. PATS target ID not stored The BCM programmed key IDs were erased. PWR_SYS_STAT The BCM detected a concern with the battery monitoring sensor, battery voltage or the charging system. Vehicle Speed not zero or bad ABS data The BCM detected the vehicle was moving based on vehicle speed data sent from the ABS module. Bad speed signal from ABS - ABS failure The BCM received invalid vehicle speed data from the ABS module.
Does any item listed in the scan tool display in the above table indicate TRUE?
Yes REFER to the table above to identify the cause of the event. DIAGNOSE all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and concerns present. No GO to V9 - Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the snapshot data for BCM DTC P1594:04.
- V9 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all of the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals-clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may be caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
