Transmission Control Module (TCM): Installation
- Install the TCM mounting bracket and the nuts and bolts.
Torque:
- Nuts: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Bolts: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Position back the wiring harness and install the retainer.
- Install the TCM and the bolts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Position back the coolant fluid reservoir and install the retainers.
Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- Connect the wiring harness retainer.
- Connect the coolant tubes.
- Connect the electrical connector and install the retainer.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the cover and the bolts.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Connect the high voltage cables to the TCM and install the retainers.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Connect the TCM.
- Install the cowl panel.

- Install the air cleaner and outlet pipe.

- Upload the module information from the diagnostic tool to the module using the Programmable Modules Installation routine.Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment
- Fill the Electric Powertrain Cooling System.
- If the TCM was replaced, perform the Transmission Strategy Download.

- If the TCM was replaced, perform the PATS Parameter Reset.
NOTE:
When connecting the high voltage cables to the TCM, make sure the retainers are torqued to specification. Failure to fully seat and torque the connectors can result in damage to the TCM due to exposure to the environment.
NOTE:
When installing the TCM, always connect the larger 40-pin connector first, then the smaller 24-pin connector. Make sure both connectors are fully inserted.

This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
