Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment

Programming 

  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

  2. NOTE: To enter the PATS security access if no programmed passive keys are available, start a vehicle session using a tear tag or PCM part number. The PATS security access can still be granted even with the ignition off.

    Refer to: Diagnostic Methods .

  3. From the diagnostic scan tool, enter TOOLBOX. Select Body>Security>PATS Functions and follow the on-screen instructions to enter PATS security access.
  4. NOTE: A maximum of 8 keys can be programmed into the vehicle.

    • From the diagnostic scan tool menu, select the appropriate key programming procedure and follow the on-screen instructions to program the passive key(s).
