  With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

• 2.
  
  If equipped, remove the underbody shield.

  Clean the area around the PTU fill plug and remove the PTU fill plug.

  NOTE: The fill capacity of the PTU is 23 fl oz (700 ml).

  Fill the PTU with clean fluid, level with the fill plug opening.

  Material

  : Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant / XY-75W140-QL (WSL-M2C192-A)

• 5.
  
  Apply thread sealant to the PTU fill plug threads and install the PTU fill plug.

  Material

  : Motorcraft® Silicone Gasket and Sealant / TA-30 (WSE-M4G323-A4)

  Torque

  : 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  If equipped, install the underbody shield.
