Smart Unlock (with push button start)

Passenger Compartment

The smart unlock feature prevents the doors from electronically locking when a passive key is left inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. When the doors are locked and then closed, the interior of the vehicle is scanned for a passive key. If a passive key is detected inside the vehicle when the doors are locked and closed, the doors unlock.

The vehicle can still be locked with a passive key inside the vehicle by locking the doors with another key using the driver door lock cylinder or the lock button pressed on another passive key.

Luggage Compartment

The luggage compartment smart unlock feature prevents the liftgate/luggage compartment lid from latching when a passive key is detected inside the luggage compartment area. When the liftgate/luggage compartment lid is closed when the doors are locked, the luggage compartment is searched for a passive key. If a passive key is detected inside the luggage compartment, the liftgate/luggage compartment lid releases.

A passive key can still be locked inside the luggage compartment area by closing the liftgate/luggage compartment lid when the doors are unlocked and then locking the doors after the liftgate/luggage compartment lid is closed with the key inside. Or if a second passive key is in range of the keyless entry rear antenna when the liftgate/luggage compartment lid is closed.
