Symptom Chart: Climate Control System

Condition Possible Sources Actions
Unable to duplicate the customer concern and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test G 
Reduced outlet airflow Refer to Pinpoint Test If the vehicle is not equipped with A/C, GO to Pinpoint Test O 
If the A/C compressor is always commanded on, GO to Pinpoint Test L 
If the A/C compressor operates normally, GO to Pinpoint Test O 
The air inlet door is inoperative Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test H 
Incorrect or erratic direction of airflow from outlets Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test I 
Insufficient, erratic or no heat Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test J 
The A/C is inoperative Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test K 
Insufficient A/C cooling Improper refrigerant level CARRY OUT the refrigerant system tests. If OK, DIAGNOSE for a temperature door actuator not operating correctly.
For 1.0L EcoBoost, REFER to: Refrigerant System Tests - 1.0L EcoBoost (90kW/120PS) .
For 1.6L EcoBoost, REFER to: Refrigerant System Tests - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - Sigma .
For 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT, REFER to: Refrigerant System Tests - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma .
Temperature door actuator GO to Pinpoint Test M 
The A/C is always on - A/C mode always commanded ON Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test L 
Temperature control is inoperative or does not operate correctly Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test M 
The blower motor is inoperative Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test N 
The blower motor does not operate correctly Refer to Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test O 
A/C pressure relief valve discharging High system pressure CHECK the high side system pressure.
If the system pressure is above the A/C pressure relief valve open pressure, REPAIR the A/C system for a restriction.
If the pressure is below the A/C pressure relief valve open pressure, INSTALL a new A/C compressor.
For 1.0L EcoBoost, REFER to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 1.0L EcoBoost (90kW/120PS) .
For 1.6L EcoBoost, REFER to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - Sigma .
For 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT, REFER to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma .
A/C pressure relief valve
