Removal And Installation

NOTE: For component identification and locations, refer to Seat - Exploded View, Front 
NOTE: Driver seat shown in illustration, passenger seat similar.

  1. 1.

    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
    NOTE: The PMI process must begin with the current SCMG or SCMH installed. If the current SCMG or SCMH does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as a part of the repair.

    Using the diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the SCMG or SCMH following the on-screen instructions.

    Remove the backrest panel.

      Pull out at the bottom on each side, quickly and firmly, releasing the retainers.

    1. 2.

      NOTE: The clips in the middle of the backrest panel can be damaged if the bottom of the backrest panel is not pivoted away from the seat.

      Pivot the bottom of the backrest panel out as far as it will go.

    1. 3.

      Slide the backrest panel down, disengaging the upper hooks.

  1. 3.

    Disengage the retainers from the backrest frame and lower the fabric flap.

  1. 4.

    Disconnect the multi-contour seat module.

    1. 1.

      Disconnect the electrical connector.

    1. 2.

      Disconnect the hoses from the multi-contour seat module.

  1. 5.

    Remove the multi-contour seat module.

    1. 1.

      Release the module retainer.

    1. 2.

      Lift the module and release the hooks attaching it to the lumbar assembly.

  1. 6.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. 7.

    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Using the diagnostic scan tool, complete the PMI process for the SCMG or SCMH following the on-screen instructions.
