Pinpoint Test Q : The Traction Control System Is Inoperative Or Cannot Be Disabled - Vehicles Equipped With A Message Center: Notes

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

When the driver deactivates traction control using the message center, the IPC sends a message to the BCM over the MS-CAN to disable traction control. The BCM, acting as a gateway, relays this message to the ABS module over the HS-CAN. The ABS module continues to monitor for excessive wheel spin, but no longer takes any action when a traction event is detected.

After receiving the message from the BCM, the ABS module sends a message to the BCM over the HS-CAN to illuminate the traction control OFF indicator (sliding car OFF icon). The BCM, acting as a gateway, relays this message to the IPC over the MS-CAN. The IPC responds by illuminating the traction control OFF indicator (sliding car OFF icon). Traction control remains deactivated until the driver changes the traction control state in the message center or until the ignition is cycled.

If equipped, MyKey ® allows users to configure traction control to be either always on or selectable. If a MyKey ® restricted key is in use with the MyKey ® traction control feature configured to always on, traction control cannot be disabled. An admin key must be used to enable and disable traction control.

NOTE: This test requires the use of at least 2 IKT programmed to the vehicle, one admin IKT and one restricted IKT.
