Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor

The EOT sensor is a thermistor device in which resistance changes with temperature. The electrical resistance of a thermistor decreases as the temperature increases, and resistance increases as the temperature decreases. The varying resistance affects the voltage drop across the sensor terminals and provides electrical signals to the PCM corresponding to temperature. The PCM uses the EOT sensor input to calculate fuel quantity and injection timing.

For Transit, the EOT sensor is located on the right hand side of the engine block near the rear of the engine. For all others, the EOT sensor is located at the rear of the engine on the oil filter adapter.
