DTC U0001:08 and U0001:88 indicate a failure of the HS-CAN which can be due to a circuit failure in the HS-CAN or the PSCM wiring harness.

When one or both of these DTCs sets, steering assist is reduced but not removed.

Depending on the vehicle operating condition when this DTC is set, the EPAS system may fail to power up, operating only in manual steering mode or operates in reduced assist mode.

When one or both of these DTCs sets, the message center displays STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED.

If one or both of these DTCs sets while the vehicle is moving, steering assist is provided until the vehicle speed is less than 3 km/h (2 mph).
