Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal
- With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

NOTE: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) installation DOES NOT require new keys or programming of keys, only a Parameter Reset of the PATS.NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Download the module information to the diagnostic tool using the Programmable Modules Installation routine. REFER to: MODULE CONFIGURATION SYSTEM .
Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment
- Remove the LHF fender splash shield. REFER to: FENDER SPLASH SHIELD .
- Remove the retainers and the PCM cover.
- Remove the retainers, detach the wiring retainer and position out the PCM.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors and remove the PCM.
